Where Did The Time Go?

It seems as though only yesterday I was young and foolish and playing at falling in love. My teen years feel as though they are not so far behind. Yet, I look in the mirror and see the face of an old woman. My body is slowly accumulating all the aches and pains that I can remember my own grandmother mentioning oh so long ago. Now I am feeling them creep slowly into my body. It's funny, inside I do not feel as old as I look on the outside. I still feel at times as young as that teen girl getting all dressed up to go to the prom with the boy I was deeply in puppy love with. Where did the time go? The older I get the faster time passes. Looking back I realize I had a good life filled with family, friends, love and fun. What a wonderful thing life is. I have been blessed.

The body may age but the mind remains young at heart.

It's good to be able to look back at your life and see how wonderful it was. Yes, those years are long gone for me too. I'm not the skinny kid I was back then, but I'm working on it. I can't get rid of the wrinkles, or aches and pains, but I'm working on that too. Time does a number on us, just like that fallen apple lying on the ground that once was perfectly smooth, but is now wrinkled and decaying.

@HazySue I would like a few less aches and pains today. The weather has done a number on me. I'm feeling very old.

You have earned all the aches and pains, wrinkles and weight.. Time does treat us a little roughly.

@just4him some days are like that unfortunately. One of the reasons I typically keep so busy is because I find that I will dwell on the aches and pains. I am one of those people who seem to have them all the time.

Time definitely does go by rather quickly. I wish things would slow down a bit.

It does seem that the only we get the faster the time does fly by.

The most important of all is looking back and realising how good your life was back then. I want to do the same when I get old, remembering the good times and I want to think that I had a great life too.

We all go through good times and bad times. Remembering the good times is so important as we get older.

My Mum always said she didn't feel old inside and I can understand that better now as I feel young inside too.

@HazySue That could well be. I hadn't thought of that.

It's funny how our inside feels so much younger than our outside. I guess it's God's way of compensating you for all of the wrinkle, aches, and pain.

Time passes by quickly but memories will never fade, most especially if lived your life to the fullest.

I find that as long as you enjoy each day the memories that stay with you will be good. The bad memories that happen along the way many times fade.

@HazySue I agree with you, Susan. I have forgotten some of the bad memories and I am happy they are gone.

@mlgen1037 some I am thrilled are gone. Some I wonder if they will ever leave. I take comfort in the fact that they have at least faded.

Same thing is happening to me. I'm young at heart but the mirror reflects an older person. Those aches and pains have crept into my body and seem to be here to stay. I long for the days when I could move my legs and knees without effort.

When they come to you they aim to stay. Sometimes it takes me by surprise when I find myself limping because my knee is so painful and doesn't want to hold me.

Same here, I would love to play in the dirt and wear no shirt in the summer, wait I went all the way back to 7 years old. Yes I still feel young inside and the old grew over me.

I like the way you put it. The old grew over the young.

I agree with you. It's a shock to throw around decades. inside you feel the same as always but the mirror and age inform otherwise.

It is a shock to the system sometimes. The mind is willing but the body can't seem to move.
