Former Czech international Lubos Kubik has been named the new manager of lowly English league two division outfit Torquay United, on Monday.
Kubik -- who played in the 1990 World Cup for the then Czechoslovakia and was part of the second-placed Czech team in the 1996 European championships -- becomes the first Czech to manage an English club, according to the Czech news agency CTK.
"I have always liked English football and the people in the game there," he said Monday.

The 42-year-old Kubik hit the headlines in 1988 when he left his country to vainly try his chances of playing for the then first division Derby country. He went on to play top league Italian league football for Fiorentina, in France for Metz and in Germany for Nuremburg.
Torquay are currently 22nd out of 24 in what used to be the former English fourth division.
