I just listed a buncha masses local churches are having for the upcoming holiday, and it just struck me ... None of them call it 'Resurrection Sunday'; They ALL call it Easter! Isn't that 'the name of a "pagan" goddess?' Didn't Our Father tell us 'not to worship any other god?'

In our country it is called Domingo de Resurrección. But the bunnies and the eggs have crept in from the north.

The church has a long history of adapting other religious icons into its faith in order to convert more followers. Many religious holidays coincide and take part of drudic and pagan beliefs including Christmas. So...

@kareemadivina alot of the Catholic saints are pagan gods and goddesses. Religion is all about growing and trying to retain believers. There are records that hint at Jesus may have been married . that mary might have been the person suppose to lead the church after Jesus accent. So much is very cloudy and debatable. Nevertheless a lot of the faiths based on the bible do share a similar message in relation to the lord.

@Daelii A lot of 'church-goers' (I had to "bite my tongue" there to keep from calling them 'Bible-Thumpers') will tell you "No, religion is all about meeting & agreeing-with more-&-more fellow peace-seekers." It's sad that a lot of us "skeptics" paint that as 'church-leaders trying to gain more "power" (mostly money, but also audience-members, votes etc.),' but those "leaders" just use the religion for the same things we-ourselves use the religion---verification (which followers get when they hear more-&-more voices repeating "Amen!") of the answers to the questions that trouble our minds.

@mythociate there is that sad aspect too! Ive done and continue to do a lot of religious exploration. Some days I dread religion. Others I love it. I do feel there is two coins to the topic: 1. Religion as power - its the earthly items that people pretend to mater. Its the church building, the money for donations, and the fear cult like attitudes. 2. Faith - god - thoughts and feelings, prayers, actions we make when no other human is looking. The goodness in us, our soul. People can easily sit in a pew and be a good Christian and lack faith. Faith doesn't need the objects of religion for a person to communicate with god. We just do it!
