how exactly do you deal with the loss of a loved one? especially if you were particularly close to them? is it selfish not to be able to let them go?

Welcome to Mylot. I don't think that it is selfish not to want to let a person go at all.

Each one of us deals with it differently, there isn't a good answer for dealing with loss.

Welcome to myLot. Enjoy the site! The first step for all newbies is to read the Guidelines to learn what is allowed or not on the site. Then you can write a post introducing yourself. Tell us a bit about yourself. Furthermore, read around as much as you can, Like and Comment on other members' posts. Only then will members come to your site and do the same. As to your question: It's not selfish but natural to grieve for someone. It may sound like a cliché, but it's true: time heals indeed the wound.

It's not selfish. It's called mourning. And it's normal to mourn. We are not prohibited to feel the way we feel when losing a love one. In time, we would be able to overcome the grief but we will always have them in our hearts forever.
