i have a lot of friends who are gay, and they are closet gays because they are afraid that they will be beaten by their parents (esp their dad) if they found out..a lot of homosexuals here are fighting to have equal rights in finding a job, human rights and for the respect due them as a human being..in your country, is there any discrimmination for homosexuals?

I'd say the United States probably has less discrimination than a lot of countries, but we still see a lot of discrimination here. Look at what happened to Matthew Shepherd and to Brandon Teena. If there were no homophobes here, stuff like that wouldn't happen.
My parents have told me that they don't accept who I am. My friends pretty much all know except for one friend. I'm out of the closet at work, but get picked on a lot for it, not in a good way either. I'm out of the closet where I volunteer too, but everyone accepts me pretty much at both places where I volunteer.
I think there are going to be quite a few more years until we see some changes in the majority of people in this country.

I think if we were more open minded here, gay marriage would already be legal.
It also depends on what state and what city you live in here. I've been through West Hollywood before, and I see all kinds of people walking through the streets, no name calling or anything.
