Chose the computer over dirty dishes

I was getting ready to tackle a sink full of dirty dishes, utensils, cups, pots and pans..., but before doing that, I decided to log onto mylot for a few minutes. I logged onto mylot to respond to notifications and to post a discussion, but then chose to also log onto Facebook and HubPages. And so here I am, more than a few minutes later, still on the computer, not wanting to leave. I guess those dirty dishes will have to wait... It's not like they have to be done by a certain time. As long as they get washed and the kitchen is clean and tidy that's all that matters.

My kids are doing the dishes. I have three kids. They wash dishes every after meal, 3 times a day. I am thankful for them. I only go online when kids are busy playing and chores done.

It's really nice of them to do the dishes. Do they get a tip?

@lovebuglena yes, they get a 20 minute play on the tablet... but they are doing the dishes because they are scheduled to do it. And i don't have trouble telling them to stick on their schedule.

Sometimes it's nice to be able to relax before tackling some chores.

@lovebuglena That is very true as well. I hope you're able to get things done.

@dodo19 For now I am still online. Spending money. I got tickets to two Broadway shows.

True. But putting things off for later could mean it will never get done.

It's frustrating that I have a dishwasher but can't really use it.

As long as they are taken care of, you can put them off for a bit.

My philosophy exactly, which is why I usually have dirty dishes in my sink...

Eventually the sink runs out of room, and so does the counter tops.

I have to admit, myLot is much more entertaining than a sinkful of dirty dishes! One reason I love having a dishwasher is that as I use the dishes I rinse them off and put them in the dishwasher. No more dirty dishes in the sink or on the counters! I hate that. But then I procrastinate putting the clean ones away, sometimes taking one out to eat on and replacing it when I'm done, but on the other side of the washer. Let's face it, dishwasher or not, I just hate dealing with dishes!

I have a dishwasher. Washed the dishes once and there was black stuff (forget what that's called) floating in the water that accumulated on top of the cups and other things. Also, though makes no sense, after I turned it on that one time the ceiling started leaking. But it was the ceiling in the kitchen above the dishwasher not the ceiling on the floor below. Since then have not tried the dishwasher ever again. And since my hubby hardly ever washes dishes I am the dishwasher. I don't mind it as a whole but sometimes the last thing I want to do is wash dishes, especially if there is a sink full of them.

@lovebuglena Your dishwasher is an excellent dish drainer, then, should you decide to use it. That black stuff--eewww! Could that be from the sewage system? The only time I've seen stuff like that is when the pipes back up. I don't use my drying feature both to save money and so that the steam doesn't damage the ceiling and humidify my small apartment. When I was washing dishes I'd often put a drop of Dawn on one and go at it with a damp sponge. That drop of soap was good for several dishes then I'd rinse them and put them in the drainer. That way they never piled up--well, not much--and I didn't get discourage with a big stack. You seem to have it all under control so you just let them sit until you're good and ready to do them. They're not hurting anything sitting there!

@dragon54u It could be from the fact that the dishwasher hadn't been used for a long time... I wash dishes every day, sometimes more than once a day... There are only two people in the house and often enough it seems like more people live here with all the stuff that needs to be washed.

Don't worry, I don't think that the dirty dishes will run away. They will very patiently wait for your return.

If I have dishes and my husband says anything, I tell him "their not going anywhere unless you want to take care of them". If they sit there for a few hours, its not going to hurt anything, some times you just have to have some free time before you do them

@lovebuglena You are lucky, we don't have that many anymore now that its the two of us and I keep everything pretty well cleaned up but it would be nice for help once in a while

Once in a while my husband will wash them, without me having to ask him to do it. It surprises me when that happens.

That's a smart thing to do. I do that sometimes. But then there are those days when I wanna go online first but then I realize it was a mistake because instead of a few minutes it turns into hours.

One of these days I just might switch to disposable ones... But that can get pretty expensive.
