Headaches

I often wake up with a headache. It seems that if I drink coffee right before bed, I do not have one when I wake up. This morning I did not. I am headed for bed now, so drank some coffee first. I am sleepy and that is a good thing. Have a great evening and do not miss me too much.

Do you drink caffeinated coffee? It could be the caffeine that prevents the headaches (or caffeine withdrawal that causes them). There are OTC headache pills that add caffeine to "help" with headaches.

When I travel I try to take the "headache pills" with me, because I cannot always count on being able to have coffee in my routine. However, I try not to take those pills too often, as I do not want to take the analgesics. Aspirin thins the blood and acetaminophen damages liver and sometimes kidneys. I do take them when I remember to pack them if I think I have not had enough coffee.

@JohnRoberts -- last year at the break they were .500. And they won the Central. We haven't played a week, I'm not ready to judge anyone's season yet. But dang, they've looked bad thus far, haven't they. Nice to see the Dodgers finally woke up Sunday, too.

My Mom used to suffer something terrible from coffee withdrawal headaches.

These morning headaches are worse than the withdrawal headaches I get when I am awake. Probably because there is nothing to distract me.

Two cups in the morning, one after work, and I guess one at bedtime now.

@GardenGerty Was wondering as they say caffeine-coffee keeps you up normally. However that doesn't seem like a lot to me.

It dilates the blood vessels. I know for some migraine sufferers the headaches can be caused by caffeine.

That sounds like caffeine headaches to me. They are awful, my mom gets them a lot.

It seems I am upping my intake all the time. When I travel I really get out of routine. Before break I could have two cups in the morning, and one at four in the afternoon and be fine, but now I need that one more at bed time. It does not disturb my sleep. My mom drank lots of coffee round the clock and slept soundly.

Have a great evening too. Why don't you try milk before bed?

I have. It is good because it has magnesium, but it does not help my headaches. It does help if I am having muscle spasms.

Today is the third day in a row I have gotten up without a headache and it feels good. My glucose was low this morning, though and I am not moving very quickly yet. I am glad you have something that helps you. My glucose is NEVER low so this was a surprise.

The coffee seems to help your headache. However for many people, coffee is a sort of excitant and makes them have a hard time getting to sleep.

I was avoiding the evening cup because it does cause that problem for some. I read this online and it did not make sense to me, but it seems to be working.

Could you be becoming too dependent on the coffee?

If I drink coffee I cant sleep. I drink ice coffee which doesn't have decafe, at least none I can find.

I would make my own decaf iced coffee if I wanted it. I do not drink Iced coffee because I want a lot of cream and sugar in it. Hot coffee I drink black. I would freeze a pot of decaf as ice cubes and pour decaf over it.

My pillow is fairly new. You are right that it is good to have fresh bedding and pillows. Sleep warm enough, but not too warm as well.

Caffeine is added to medicine to relief headache, I am not surprised that you need coffee if this has become a habit.
