Hello everyone

The sad part is wish that I kept all of my books were younger.
the pictures book was great as a child. The art work of the artists.
Picture book like Dumbo,Bambi,etc.
I pass on these to my children. The girls loved Snow white.
My only son love the Jungle book.
Did any here hang on to their picture book .
Did your parents or teachers read aloud to you when you were younger? What were your favorite books? Why? Do you think you’ll read any of these books to your own children?

I have always loved books and I have a lot of favorite books. But if I have my own child/ren, I would definitely teach them to love books as I do.

@amadeo Thank you Fredo, I did mourn all the things we lost for a time but they are just things and I have convinced myself that things are just things and people are what is important.

I am also a book worm like you , I had a collection of fictions and text books along with other books! But the actual book worms , the termites ate more than half of my library and infested another 10% because of which I had to burn about 600 volumes of my books from my personal library dear friend @amadeo! Thanks!

@amadeo , I have already posted a discussion about this few weeks back ...that really makes me sick to think about the bad incidence! Thanks God today we have E books available for our rescue! Otherwise things would have become too tough for me as I have lost many reference books which act as good guides at the time of need! Thanks a lot dear friend to understand me! Stay blessed!

Hi Alfredo!
Same here. I love books. I did not have much books growing up, I had mostly fairy tales and my mom read them to me. Growing up, I was introduced to my grandfather's vast collection of World War I and World War II fiction and non-fiction books and even gave me a couple of books from his collection. That is probably where I got my interest in such books.
I collect books that have film adaptations. This started when our professor had us write a comparative criticism between the book and the film. I wrote about Memoirs of a Geisha.
I think my son got that hobby from me. However, he likes reading about scary movies and Tagalog books. He is also into poetry. However, his collection of books is a bit more pricey and hard to find than mine as he collects author signed books.

@amadeo I don't have those examples. The picture books that we have are mostly Filipino legends like The Legend of the Pineapple, and others.

Indeed, make great burning materials under our new dictatorship because might say the president is fat. I make bad jokes. Books are fun. So many unique stories that make Hollywood look silly.

My kids are grown now but I read to them. I read the Little House series, some of Nancy Drew, and many other books and picture books through the years. I don't have any of my old books and am not sure what happened to them. I do have many books I am reading, waiting to read, or want to read again.

I left all of my children's books at my grandparents house and went and got them when I had children and they enjoyed the same books.

I was forced to read as a child, and I hated it. I always wanted to be outside exporting instead of reading. But now that I am older I love to read, and praise my teachers for making me read. As for reading to my children, yes I started reading to them when they were very little, and by the time they were in kindergarten they were already reading some words.

When I taught my children sort of playing a game.First we talk about the photo and then I say do you know which word that comes with this.Took awhile.but they learn very fast.
