Another Work In Progress!

While in New Brunswick with my sister, her daughter and of course Emmett, a photo of a quilt caught my eye.
I knew how I would change it to suit my tastes. All of the fabrics needed were already in my stash, so it was just a matter of making the background.
Then the search began for a picture or pattern I could use to design a lighthouse....
My search ended when we found a panel with a suitable lighthouse that I could order online and applique to the quilt.
The convoluted route this lighthouse took to reach me is a discussion all its own.
Needless to say, the lighthouse has been appliqued to the quilt and now I'm ready to begin the process of quilting the layers together. (I need to buy more markers, mine are still in New Brunswick.)
This could give me a much needed break from the chore of packing.

@amadeo that wasn't my intent, but the right offer, I would sell it and then just make myself another.

It seemed appropriate. The wall hanging will be hung in the kitchen of my new home.

That is quite nice, the lighthouse really is a nice touch.
You'll have to do some with some eggs or chicks on them in the corner as a keepsake to your work on the chicken farm all of these years.
How is the packing going?
You must have started in your sewing room already.

My fabric, pantry units are empty...the front hall closet is empty, the china cabinet is empty as well as my curio cabinet. I've sold some of the stuff off the patio (almost all of it) and have about 2/3s of the sewing room in boxes and bins....
I made placemats a few years ago with a rally nice chicken print. That's probably all the chicken decor I need.

@Morleyhunt You're doing well. I found the kitchen to be the worst when it came to packing up last year. I mean, there were so many small appliances, and then the big serving pieces, my bakeware and then the plasticware and then the everyday pots, pans, dishes, glasses, mugs and cutlery.

@Juliaacv I've empties one kitchen cupboard. Maybe I'll tackle another today. The phones have been sorted out. Hubby has an inexpensive phone with a $10 per month plan. Mine has everything I already had, but 4x the data for $30 less than I had been paying.

That is going to be impressive. Don't take too long a break from packing though.

I think I've made enough progress that I can spend an evening playing.

@JudyEv I'll try to be good. The sewing machine will be the last thing packed and loaded into my van...not the moving van.

It was just the creative touch this quilted wall hanging needed. I love that I could use materials I had on hand to assemble most of it.

@mlgen1037 I usually post about the quilts I'm working on. With moving soon, my quilting is a bit slower at the moment.

The lighthouse was just what this quilt needed. The hand quilting will take me some time to complete....but it's the sort of thing I can pick up and work on with minimal fuss.

I'm loving the way the applique looks on my quilted wallhanging. Now to get the quilting (by hand) completed.

I'll have to find a different fair this year. The local fair will no longer be local.

The photo I used for reference had a little girl holding a basket of flowers. Pretty, but not something I thought I would hang on my wall. The lighthouse....that was an easy decision.
