How do you get yourself out of a depressed mood?

Sometimes there are days where you are in a funk. You have things you have to do or have things you want to do, but you just can't bring yourself to it because you are in a depressed mood. How do you get yourself out of it? I have found myself in this situation lately and I don't like it. I wonder how I can get myself out of it. I don't want it to turn into real depression.

I organize my bedroom, office, kitchen, etc. I get on my laptop and do my work and volunteering, whether I like to or not. Sometimes I listen to music. I love to clip coupons. My favorite? Making myself a pot of flavored coffee as a treat to make iced coffee.

@lovebuglena I don't like saying busy, but working productively. Sometimes people keep busy with meaningless activities. But good discussion!

I really push myself to do something, anything and once I get started, I am usually okay then.

Maybe that is what I should try. But when I feel depressed I don't really want to do anything... Hard to force myself to do something when I feel depressed.

I go to mall if I have money then I shop if not i just stroll and check next payday prospect items. Sometimes i just stay at home and avoid people as much as possible peace quiet good for meditation ??

As a rule I'm an upbeat person. When I feel down I need to get may self moving.,.that usually brightens my outlook. I know this doesn't work for everyone...but for me it's effective.

Some people I know found relief in religion. Good company may also lift your spirit.

I am not really a religious person. Good company can help perhaps but most of my days are spent home alone...

Go for a walk. Listen to music. Watch tv / movies. But. sometimes, nothing helps and you just have to go through it.

I have to force myself to do something. You can try to do what you enjoy the most. Listen to music, going in nature, watch a comedy.

Yeah. Forcing yourself to do something is probably necessary. But it's hard to do when you are in a very down mood.
