Day 2
Zechariah 2
Zechariah 2:1 I lifted up mine eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
2 Then said I, Whither go thou? And he said unto me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.
3 And, behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
4 And said unto him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited as towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein:
5 For I, says the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and will be the glory in the midst of her.
6 Ho, ho, come forth, and flee from the land of the north, says the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, says the LORD.
7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwell with the daughter of Babylon.
8 For thus says the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that touches you touches the apple of his eye.
9 For, behold, I will shake mine hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
10 Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, says the LORD.
11 And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.
When you think of walled cities, you think safety, especially from enemies.
God told Zechariah Jerusalem would be without walls because he would be a wall of fire surrounding her, and the glory in her midst.
With God surrounding you and his glory in your midst, you know there will be peace and safety from anything that could harm you.
People build up walls around themselves to keep evil out of their lives, hoping nothing will touch them. Yet, someone is always trying to break down the walls.
As Christians, you look forward to the day when there will be peace and safety, the day when Satan will no longer hold anything over you, because he will be defeated in the final battle of Armageddon in the Tribulation. Then there will be total peace, and God will be in the midst of his people.
Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (KJV)
God gives us hope in the midst of our trials, hope that one day all our problems will cease, and God will take all our trials from us.
Let’s pray: Father, I look forward to the day when all my problems will disappear, and your Son, Jesus, reigns supreme over your people. Give me patience as I wait for that day. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
