Every once in a while a very popular band will cover a song from an artist who influenced them but the fact gets lost in the fame. This song is a prime example. I have had to explain to too many Nirvana fans that "The Man Who Sold the World" was not written by Curt Cobain. Below I have likes to both Nirvana's version and the actual artist. Enjoy.

I had the MTV unplugged cd and didn't notice how he said that some of the songs were originally another singers. My daughter is a huge Nirvana fan and pointed out to me what he was saying on the CD. One he mentions is a David Bowie song.

I didn't know that this was a cover song. After listening to the David Bowie version, I think I like it better than Nirvana's rendition. David Bowie had such an unique voice that made his songs great.

He was not a singer he was a performer. Everything he did was an art not just the notes and words.
This song was even covered in American Horor Story: Freakshow.

@JAWwriting That is true. I don't really know that much about David Bowie but there are some songs that I am familiar with that I like.

It happens a lot and Rancid is my favorite and had to ask for forgiveness on songs I did not know they covered. Sucks when they are so good that it sounds like something they wrote.
