At least there is one Harthal in every month. Different political parties declaring
Harthal for different reasons. They forced to close all shops and stops the transport of buses and private vehicles. They find it is the easiest way to get attention to their protest. But wasting of positive time and the travelers from other country and outsiders have to suffer for that.

That's wonderful to hear that a country without protests or strikes. Our Harthal is little different from strikes
It causes a halt to the national economy. Because it interpret the common mans life. No shop, No buses
No companies and it gives panic.

@ridingbet That's a bad tendency although it is here also. Peaceful strike is the best method.

@shshiju yes they do. jeepney strikes eventually paralyze the transport group. leftists and rightists do protest and almost always the traffic is involved.
