What would you do if your child told you that their teacher called them a bad name? My little brother came home and said his teacher called him a "Ba$ta#d".

Teachers - Teachers
Well one things for sure - I would get my a$$ straight up to the school and right into that teacher's face and let them know exactly what I thought of them!!!! Yes I do believe that kids can get things mixed up - but with a word like that used in class at all - it has to be dealt with!!!!! One of my sons had a math teacher who apparently enjoyed intimidating her pupils - so hubby & I had a meeting with her and boy did she show her true colors - she made it all like she enjoyed having the kids scared of her!!! So u bet we gave her a piece of our minds and talked to several other parents about it and they felt the same way - so her A$$ was fired!!!!!

aww thanks. I find it hard that he could be making this up or even confused on where he heard it. Right now, I have 100% faith in him and not the teacher. Monday afternoon is the day of truth!

First of all, did anyone else witness this? Because as wrong as it is, it will be the child's word against the teachers. And most likely, the teacher will be believed. I would find this out first, then, I would set up a conference with the teacher, the principal or dean, and my child. Then, as we were all sitting together, we would get to the bottom of the problem. If this happened, and the teacher really said these things, I would move my child to a school where there is mutual respect all around!

I agree find out if anyone else was there. But I wouldn't move my kid from the school I would move him to another class and make sure the school took action against the teacher.

Good question. I will find out. I find it hard to believe a five year old would come-up with this, however, children hear things and get confused.

First, I'd find out if it's true. Not that he would lie about it, but there are many things that kids observe that they don't always get right or understand. Then if it is true, and it can be verified, like the teacher admits it or another student witnessed it, I'd be pretty upset and I think it would warrant a meeting with the teacher and the principal.

well i once had a teacher who threw a stapler against a wall!..and i think that teachers have it a lot worse nowadays, in my skl some of the abuse the girls gave the teachers was uncalled for.

Yeah, I can remember a few teachers that use to throw stuff. I can't say it is easy for any teacher. I go insane just looking after one kid, but this is the line of profession they choose. They must be able to control their anger and frustration. They are their to teach and motivate, not give bad impressions.

My first response would be to call the teacher and find out how my child was behaving at school to cause the teacher to think that way. Then I would explain that i would like to have the teacher report to me any other instances that occured. and of course if it were true that the teacher called my kid a name i would expect an apology. but nowadays i think that there are too many parent who believe that their child does no wrong and that teachers are the problems. I hear it all the time. when my kids started school i told them that they had better listen to teir teachers the same way or better than they listen to me. kids need to know that school isnt a game and treat the teacher and other students with resspect.

Indeed kids need to know respect. But respect works both ways, regardless of age. I am taking no sides yet, since I want to hear both sides of the story.

go to talk with the teacher and if you see he has really told this to your brother, make a denounce, report this to the police! don't wait!

Any kind of belittling is inappropriate. Children tend to suffer from low self-esteem when an adult runs them down and makes them feel inadequate. A parent-teacher conference is in order.

I'd tell my parent(s) and then they should inform the school and get a meeting together with the school board and make an official complaint. If that didn't work out, I'd go to the Superintendent of the Schools of the city where I lived, and then remove my child and ask to be sent to another school.

I wouldnt care, it happends all the time, I have teachers who swear at there students some time. I guess it kinda has to go by the school, and area. Some have different things that go on. Even though they aren't supposed to at mine. some still do.
