I Did Not Take His Name In Vain, Nor Did You

When it comes to religion I’m not perfect, but I put a lot of thought into it.
My mother likes to nail me I front of our Mennite family (her second husband’s folks) for taking God’s name in vain.
This is what OH MY GOD means to me.
Happy? Thankful.
Sad, mad, scared? Praying.
Guilty? Repenting.
Amused? Sharing my amusement with God.
After making my point as I did above, I remind her that the 9th commandment is thou shalt not bear false witness. She accused me of breaking the 3rd commandment (Lord’s name in vain) and if I kept the 5th command (honour parents) at that moment, I’d be breaking #9 myself, and to GOD, no less!!!!!!
If you feel the same way, just remember “9359.” Don’t ever let them think you took God’s name in vain when you & God know better.

And because we all make mistakes, we should not judge others.

I avoid using OMG because people tend to jump to the wrong conclusion.
We all fall short, and I think I'll avoid trying to pull the splinter out of your eye and work on the beam in my own.

You avoid OMG for the same reason why I embrace it!!!! In proving what I mean, the accusers are only making themselves look bad.

Read the 5th paragraph about the 9th commandment, reference to the third one, then to the fifth, then back to 9. When someone accuses me of taking His name in vain I remember “9359.”

We are humans and we commit mistakes. I think God knows that.

@mlgen1037, but the bible says "be perfect like your father in heaven is perfect".

@twieesmiley yes but that only happens when you are willing to forego all the worldly stuff. Even the priests and nuns commit mistakes, so can we.
