Do You Think It Is A Good Idea, To Keep The Animals As Pets That Are Born In Wild?

I know some people like to keep the animals which are born in wild as their pets.
But they are really different from the traditional pets born in captivity like Cats, Dogs and some birds as they are quite compatible.
I had an infant squirrel which was saved in a storm and I raised him on milk initially and within few days he got very attached with us all at my place.
The days were going on nice and we were happy to have this guest in our life to make it happy until we discovered that this fellow managed to make a hole in the sofa and was building his own nest there!
He used to bite from below if he felt that he is becoming uneasy there in his nest when someone used to sit on the sofa!
I realized my mistake that, though I can rear him but I can’t suppress his natural instincts!
So we gradually started to take him outside and let him spend some time outdoors till the time he made some friends there! He used to come back after spending few hours there with his friends!
And within a fortnight we were happy to see that he has decided to stay in the wild and he never came back to us!
What is your opinion about this? You like to have wild animals as your pets? Thanks!
Please respond, Your responses will be highly appreciated!

We had a squirrel at home when I was a toddler. He had also been raised on milk, but was in a large bird cage with some branches and a nest where he had his home. Yours bit your sofa not because he was a wild animal but because he was a rodent. I do not think that any rodent can be left free in a home if you want to keep your furniture safe, would it be a dwarf rabbit or a guinea pig.

Yes, I fully agree with you, In fact I have forgotten to mention about this fact in the discussion, this is the natural instinct of a rodent to have their own nest where they want have rest to retire after the hectic day when they become adults! Thanks @topffer!

For me, wild animals should be left in the wild because that is their natural habitat.

@AKRao24 we have lots of birds, squirrels, rabbits and deer here in our yard. There are also pigs, chickens, cows, goats and horses on the farms here and occasionally a snapping turtle is out in our yard.

I think it was cool that you realized that the squirrel did not belong inside and put him out in his own environment. I believe have dogs and cat snd birds is different. They are pets that people can have in their own home.We live in a smaller apartment so I would not have a dog now. Not enough room to move around. Sophie I would say is fine with it and she can go out on the porch.

Yes, fully agree with you ! In fact animals born in wild have those genes in them which over the period of time initiate the wild instincts in them and they can be big trouble makers if we keep them as pets! Dogs and cats on the other hand are domesticated for several years and they must have altered the genetic code because of which they are so friendly with human beings! In addition to this these pets are born in presence of Human beings and they can readily recognize the human beings and accept them as their life time companions! Thanks dear @Hannihar !

No, i do want freedom for myself and i wish the same to all creatures. If they are happy can't we be happy too? I already have an experienced treating my dog as human and it was not good. He became snobbish to fellow dogs hahaha. Well when my sister brings her dogs here in the house my dog will stay away far from the dog , lol many times he did this. And i found it amusing at first but not now. I wish he will be more sociable.

I appreciate your views about the wild animals! They look good and enjoy their lives in the wild while maintaining the ecosystem! As far as your dog is concerned it looks he is very pampered and posessive too! Which is common problem with many of us! Thanks dear @chavezrmc !

I think what you did for him was so beautiful! That would be such an amazing experience. I have bought animals at pet stores but I never will again. Animals should be free in there natural habitat. All the animals I have now I adopted as strays or from other people who didn’t want them any longer.

It is better for the wild animals to live in the wild. So I won't have wild animals as my pets.

Wild animals are better suited to live in the wild.
It is same like when we are uprooted from our safe haven - homes with a solid roof!
In a way, it resonates with “You can take an Indian out of India, but you can never take India out of an Indian”!
But most countries accept others as they are - siva

@AKRao24 Thank you for your generous appreciation.
And that shows a generous heart too!
I feel sad and anguished at seeing caged birds - what crime did they do?
My outlook has been to treat others better than what I get and that gives real fulfilment and meaning to my life.
Have a great time too, dear friend - siva

I don't think it is a good idea to take animals from their environment. Only if they are injured and in that case with animal rescue facilities equipped and knowledgeable to handle them. People should not have wild animals as pets. I have heard of instances where the animal has turned on them and attacked. Wild animals should not be domesticated.

@AKRao24 Yes, I think it is just their instincts to behave in this way. It can be difficult to domesticate animals who live in the wild.

In my opinion, I would not like this idea! This is because there might be legal issues with these animals and making sure that they can adapt to their new environment.

@AKRao24 I know they would be fun to have as pets, but maybe we should just like do our best to make sure that they are treated well in the wild.

No, I don't believe it is wise to keep a wild animal as a pet, the results have not been good for these poor wild animals.

Yes, some people they have even Lizards as their pets which is not a good thing in my opinion. These animals they have natural instinct and they start behaving like that when they grow old which can be dangerous to human beings.Apart from that these animals do have certain role to play in the nature to maintain the ecosystem and we really have no right to deprive them from having this role to play! Thanks dear @rakski!

Theres nothing wrong with helping a baby or hurt animal. If it chooses to be a pet good. If not then set it free. I'd much rather enjoy animals free in the wild than from a pet shop in a cage..

I liked your views, animals they look beautiful in the nature only! They form the part of nature and they have some responsibilities given by nature to perform to maintain this ecosystem! Thanks a lot @pearlrosa! I appreciate your opinion!
