Meat that is. We don't smoke pot. As I wrote yesterday we have an almost 13 pound brisket, courtesy of our chef friend at our usual hangout. It will take between 16 and 18 hours in the smoker so we are starting it at about 8 pm tonight and letting it just go until it is ready tomorrow. Luckily we have an electric smoker so it is a "set it and forget it" situation. My husband doesn't have to worry about getting up in the middle of the night to re-load charcoal or wood or anything like that. I am looking forward to some good eats tomorrow night!

I make pot roast but not in the smoker and not with pot.

With the electric cooker, what makes the meat have a smokey flavor?

It still uses wood chips and produces smoke. It just doesn't burn wood or use charcoal.

@kobesbuddy I would like to get another charcoal smoker in the future. We can't get a good smoke ring with the electric smoker but it certainly is convenient for long cooks like this overnight one and when the weather isn't so nice.

That brisket will be so tender and juicy by the time it is ready.

Sounds yummy. Wish I could join you. Never ate anything that's been smoked before. I've seen a lot of smoked meat on food network. Always wanted to try it. Enjoy it!

It is great stuff! We do pulled pork (pork shoulder), ribs, whole chicken, chicken wings, meatloaf, brisket, bluefish, and even crazy stuff like potatoes for potato salad, mac and cheese, shrimp for shrimp cocktail, peppers for salsa, etc.

@NJChicaa While sounds great! Does a smoker cost very much?

@coltbiz Our 1st one was a cheap charcoal one that cost like $50. Now we have a large electric one and that cost us $400. It is like anything else--there is a whole range of prices. People have huge custom rigs that were built for thousands of dollars.
