Do you see what I am saying?

I said to my husband "by next fall I want a green house" and he agreed.
I did not draw the picture for him. I want a small indoor greenhouse for my house plants, with lights and a fan. Like the one at school. I could start seeds almost year around, too.
He had a picture in his mind, and brought me a Harbor Freight Catalogue that had a small outdoor green house for the yard. That is also a nice idea but much more expensive.
We would like them both, but it did strike me as strange that we "saw" different things with the same words.

I think everything "saw" different things with the same words. It's just like when we read books, everyone will draw different pictures according to the same book.

That is why I prefer books over movies. I can make my own images.

I pictured what your husband pictured. By greenhouse I think of a physical structure that is outside (could be attached) to my house.
What you are picturing..I would just refer to as grow lights or a grow table.

There are actually miniature fold up green houses for indoors. My mind was on houseplants. I have always wanted a full sized green house as well.

After I had realized where he was coming from we talked about something I have seen done. This is for outdoors. People buy a used dog run, then put either plastic sheeting or the acrylic panels up around it. It makes a good full sized green house and if you get it used it is less expensive.

@rebelann Not a lot. Another side note is people use cattle panels for arches and trellises and it works well.

Yep, it works just by using old fencing as well, the only investment is the plastic or acrylic and then heating it for winter might not be so expensive either @GardenGerty Does your area get a lot of sunshine?

I had mentioned that it was for my houseplants next winter. We had a good conversation about ways to get both.

Yes, I run into that as well. Also just plain not listening. This was not the case this time, though.

Yeah, this was probably more my fault than his, but it gave us a chance to discuss what we really want.

This is very similar to our classroom. We have LED grow lights inside and a fan to keep down mildew. Yes. I want a sunroom both front and back.

He has not ever been to our classroom to see the set up we have. He went from his own experience.

I would like an enclosed glass porch, front and back. It would be good for plants and the people too.

Do not do the pipe and plastic, the wind blew the plastic off,it was a battle, nothing survived. I will build me one of wood with a real door. Use the clear plastic sheets that look like clear sheets of tin.

I was going to ask you about that. I have my eye out for a cheap dog run, then I think I would put my acrylic/plastic panels inside and secure them. Not sure how I would seal the air leaks around the gate. OR I could find old discarded windows and make one.

It would be nice and would extend my growing season.
