What kind of grade would those lines receive on an English assignment? Those corny rhyming lyrics made for a fun song. I suspect the Florida state capitol was only used because it rhymes with lassie. A more innocent time when a woman is described as having a hi-fi chassis. “Tallahassee Lassie” was written by Bob Crewe, Frank Slay Jr. and Frederick A. Picariello. Crewe is best known as co-writer of the Four Seasons hits of the 60s. Picariello is Cannon’s real name. From the album “The Explosive Freddy Cannon,” “Tallahassee Lassie” was Cannon’s first hit going gold at Billboard #6.
