I fear the dentist

A dentist with a kid

Protecting our teeth is of the utmost importance. And for that, we should regularly visit the dentist. I did a quick and little research on the internet and found out that many people have to get anxious when they have a dentist appointment. I'm one of these people; I get so fearful knowing I have to see one. But after all, we ought to, or we'll just have to spend more money and may lose a tooth/teeth. Do you fear or get anxious if you have to see a dentist? Image credit: KET

Yes. I get very anxious. And my teeth are in very poor condition. I lost many of them.I avoided for years going.

It's really not good to let them rot. Better to fix them as soon as you notice they are getting rotten. :)

I used to be afraid as a child but dentistry has improved so much over the years that I don't mind at all now. In February this year I had awful toothache and I could have hugged my dentist when he took out my tooth and I was pain free again

You're right, thanks to medical progress. It's just anxiety. ;) Uh, toothache really kills. Glad you got rid of it.

I have an anxiety disorder anyway, so going to the dentist is very hard for me. Luckily I have found a very good dentist who works really well with my issues and is very patient.

Not really I recall attending my Dentist all alone when I was just 12 years old! though there used to be little pain while digging the cavity , rest was absolutely fine with me. Today with the advancement of techniques things have become more sophisticated and you hardly feel any pain while the work is being don on your tooth / teeth! Thanks @EricMcCole!

I hate visiting the dentist. I had very bad tooth pain in 2011 and had to have strong medicine to put up with the pain. I wanted to find a very kind and gentle dentist. I did find him and it took more than £300 for him to remove my tooth. I had to have calming medicine. I planned to see him again however in 2012 my son broke his leg. Three weeks later we visited South America for 28 days. I came home too poor to see that dentist again. I had a bad time at the dental hygienist in 2015. My mouth bled for ages after seeing her. I have another painful tooth and my National Health dentist won't treat me because I gag. I wonder when I can get seen at the dental hospital.
