Where I Am Vs. Where I'm Supposed to Be

Here it is....yet another blown concert. My record is almost as bad as the Cincinnati Reds' this year! I'm now 2-6. Tonight I was supposed to go to Nashville to attend an album release party by a new singer named Joshua Hedley. He has really impressed me with what I've heard from him, and I was really looking forward to it. Alas, it was not to be. This time around, it's the ol' IBS acting up. "IBS" is Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I will spare you the gory details. In actuality, the main issue is pain. So with the diverticulosis pain and the IBS pain and the back pain ganging up on me I skipped the show. I'm going to the gastroenterologist on Thursday. Hopefully we can get a plan together and ease this up...preferably before next Wednesday, when I have tickets to see Peter Case and Robyn Hitchcock together!!! Here's Joshua Hedley. WARNING: country music.

That IBS can be really rough. Was it a stress related illness? I have had my own bouts with stomach issues due to stress. One time it got so bad, I lost so much weight, I needed to have that not so nice testing to make sure it was not something more severe. So, I feel your pain. Hope you recover for the next concert...

I don’t think it’s stress as much as allergies, in a round-about way. When my allergies act up I eat more cough drops than food, and the menthol in the cough drops aggravates my reflux, and then all associated parts of the body gang up on me. It also could be related to an old rib injury, or the doctor may tell me, “Y’know, if you lose 25 pounds that pain will go away”....

@dgobucks226 -- well, the song's real lyrics were "what a drag it is getting old," but they couldn't say "It sucks getting old" back then.

@FourWalls I also have acid reflux disease and have been on meds for years now. Certain foods really aggravate the condition. It is so hard to avoid foods you have always eaten and enjoyed. I try to be careful, but temptation gets the best of me sometimes. I use to be able to eat anything when I was young. As many have said: "it sucks getting old."

I hope the IBS subsides and you get to see Peter Case and Robyn Hitchcock next Wednesday! Thanks for sharing your link to Joshua Hedley. I will give it a listen tomorrow after I first get a good night's sleep. I am about to drop. Was that guy actually singing or lip syncing? That video looked like a dream sequence from a sci-fi movie. But the song was okay. i can't complain.

That’s him singing, all right. Didn’t know kids like him knew what country music is supposed to sound like!

Maybe the Reds could borrow your excuse. The Dodgers could use that excuse after Kershaw loses to Miami.

Well that sucks. The only concert that I've ever had tickets for and missed was A Perfect Circle, because my girlfriend at the time was sick. I certainly hope you are feeling better by now!

Sorry to hear you're digestive issues and back pain have been interfering with your life. IBS is miserable! I hope the gastroenterologist can help you so you don't have to keep missing out on things because of flare ups.

Don't worry, don't stress, things will work out some way or some how. Just stay positive and remember that every disappointment is a blessing.
