What is the proper view of money and material possessions?

Which is correct? 'Money is the root of all evil' or The love of money is the root of all evil'? What are your views and insights? Does having a LOT of money and possessing a LOT of material things make one truly happy? Are there pros and cons to being rich? Are there pros and cons to not being rich? What do you think?

Money is good but it is not God. Money can do a lot but it is limited when it really counts. It's good to use money but it should not rule one's life.
