1st Day of Bengali New Year

The first day of Bengali New Year is observed with great festivity. It's called Pohela Boishakh. It's on 14th April. Thousands of people of all ages join in New Year's carnival. People dance and sing on the streets. Eat sweets and country made cakes. The New Year begins with folk songs. At night buildings are decorated with colourful lights.

Both Bengal and Punjab sacrificed much for the indipendençe of Indian Sub continent. Only this two provinces were divided.

@shilabrata1 , Yes Rabindranath Tagore wrote 'Jana Gana Mana...' and also won Noble Prize in literature! And today the history about the people against the British was removed from the text books of XII th class History! Thanks!
