My brother´s garage sale.

Only it wasn´t a garage sale for me. He called me that he was having a garage sale only it was a garage "give away".
He had offered me his old carpets but then he called me to tell me that they were not in the best shape and that probably I would not want them. I said I would go and take a look.
He also had some lamps. And bulbs. And a plastic old drawer that can be used at the garage for the onions and potatoes.
He hoped that I would accept it all (or he would have to pay to take them away). He does not remember that I don´t have the same amount of money he has and never will. So I went. And I brought it all. Of course I told him that I would not bring it to my house so he did it.
I even brought some Lamps I wasn´t interested in. And I will check on a way to sell those and other things I have at home. With the money I get, I hope to buy some things I need.
The carpet was not new, but fairly decent. I´ll have it placed in my room.
Do you get free or very cheap things for your home?

That´s what my brother did. They remodeled the kitchen and it is better than those elegant kitchens shown on TV. I could only say WOW!!!

@rakski If I spent my money on a kitchen like theirs, I would not have any money to live on for the rest of my life.

I like to fix my home but most of the time I don´t have the means. So this is wonderful for me.

Not at all. We don't have great garage sales here at all and it's not something commonly done here. There are thrift shops but we stay away from used stuff. The reason why we do can be attributed to something we believed in, not really superstitious but we believe that we don't want to carry or have the burdens others had.

Garage sales are not usual here either. But this was a garage donation to me

He did. But as he was throwing all that away, he thought they were not useful.

Most of my "new" living room comes from my brother´s house. And my old furniture is in my daughters houses.

i don't mind hand-me-downs, as long as i like them. if it's something i know i won't use, i pass it on to others. yes, it would be great if you can resell some of them.

Maybe you can sell it online for a small amount and buy something nice for you with it.

@LadyDuck It happens here too. Some furniture are not for small spaces.

@marguicha Nobody wants to buy those big furniture, it costs more to move them from the apartment than to buy new from Ikea. I will donate to charities, at least they come to collect them.

I´m planning to get a young friend to sell online part of those things my brother gave me for a commission. Maybe with what I get from a lot of them I can buy one thing I need at home.

@marguicha Sounds good to me. I love the photo. It made me smile. Was that one of the items "for sale"?

My brother was going to throw away all that. It would have been a problem for him to get someone to take all that.

@marguicha I would never do that. I hold on to things that I would not be holding on to
