Why don't we crank things up a notch? Hell, why don't we crank things up several notches? We are at #33b, the "cover" portion of today's Play it Again, Sam: Gary Moore's cover of The Yardbirds' "Shapes of Things."
The late Irish guitar hero, Gary Moore, could shred, shred, shred with the best of them, whether as a member of Thin Lizzy, as a hard rocking solo artist, or as a bluesman. Case in point, his 1983 cover of "Shapes of Things."
From his album, Victims of the Future (which Moore called "just one of my feeble attempts at heavy rock,") "Shapes of Things" was a minor (very minor) hit for Gary Moore, reaching #77 in the UK. As was sadly the norm, there was no chart action here in the States, although I did my part by playing it on the radio when I was in college.
Moore definitely put his stamp on this classic. Simply put, it bloody rocks! I had the privilege to see Gary in Germany in 1989. "Shapes of Things" was a huge highlight of the show. Since Gary Moore shined in a live setting, I've attached a live performance from 1984. If you are at all a fan of guitar rock, I highly recommend that you check it out.
(Info verified by Wikipedia)
Guitar God Gary Moore and his solo band perform an outstanding version of the classic "Shapes Of Things" in Ireland in 1984.

He was a great hard rocker. Eventually he gave it up for his love of the blues. Near the end of his life, he switched back and forth.

@teamfreak16 Why should you be restricted by one genre if you enjoy several? Unless he needed the money I guess.

@JudyEv - He was probably fairly well off. He was quite popular in Europe and Japan. He never really caught on here in the States for some reason.
