Every time a person crunches into a potato chip, he or she is enjoying the delicious taste of one of the world's most famous snacks – a treat that might not exist without the contribution of African-American inventor Sir George Crum.
The son of an African-American father and a Native American mother, Crum was working as the chef in the summer of 1853 when he incidentally invented the potato chip.French fries were popular at the restaurant and one day a diner complained that the fries were too thick. Although Crum made a thinner batch, the customer was still unsatisfied. Crum finally made fries that were too thin to eat with a fork, hoping to annoy the extremely fussy customer.
The customer, surprisingly enough, was happy - and potato chips were invented!
I love the potato chips specially watching sports or any movie. Less salty and spicy chips are definitely my type. If I finish one whole bag of chips, the craving is still there. You just cant eat one chip. I don't know the reason behind it but if you are on a weight loss regime than chips are your seductive enemies. Thanks to Mr. Crum that his incidental invention is the worlds most beloved snack till date.
Do you love potato chips ? Have you ever had any incidental invention in your kitchen ?
Thankyou , " google"

@stapllotik I've never been a snack person, though once in a while I would have potato chips, or candy bars, but it wasn't often.

Yes it is. After this incident Crum opened his own restaurant that had a basket of potato chips on every table. Though Crum never attempted to patent his invention, the snack was eventually mass-produced and sold in bags providing thousands of jobs nationwide.

I love potato chips but I buy only one bag a month. When they are gone that is it for the month.

Me too. When it comes to chips, I forgot it is calorie dense.

The place where it invented was the Cary Moon’s Lake House. And the first person who tasted it was Cornelius Vanderbilt , a rich rail road mogul, regular customer at Cary Moons Lake House..
