Hi! I have been thinking about starting a business. I have a question for those of you who have your own business websites or who are webmasters. What's the best way to create a website? Is knowledge of HMTL necessary, or would you recommend just skipping to a page building program? I would love to be able to hire someone to do all this for me but I don't think I could afford it. Thanks in advance for any advice! :-)

hey yeh i have made a website and i had it looking really good it was just one i made with a free web design package i downloaded and it wasnt that hard but i decided to try another design package and ended up wiping my whole site clean off the net Whoops lol but hey i just got myself macro media studio 8 with dreamweaver and fireworks and all that and i am currently taking home study courses to learn properly about web design so please watch this space as i intend to make a great website or at least hope to lol :). i do have a download store still and forum that all went along with my site they are still running. It would cost you a fair bit to get someone to do it for you but if you intend on making mooney then you have to spend to accumalate so it may still be worth it in the end :)

Hi! and thanks for your response! Even if I do learn most of the technical stuff, I'll probably still need help setting up a shopping cart and merchant account. Does your site have those? If you don't mind my asking, did you set it up yourself and if so, was it very hard? Thanks! :-)

Hi! and thanks for your response! I tried to take a free online HTML class at WebTechU. It's a great site and the people are great, but they had us build our sites on free web hosts, and those sites wouldn't allow up to upload our own code. It was very, very frustrating! I'll definitely check out the site you listed. I'm interested in using Dreamweaver. Thanks! :-)

I have a couple of websites. I just play around with one. It's www.youcrazymonkey.com where I just post a bunch pet pictures. I also have a pet store.. www.pimppets.com. this one is more serious. I made youcrazymonkey by myself and I hired someone for the pet store. I used yahoo merchant solutions. Depending on what you're going for with your site you can prob do it by yourself using templates and stuff but if you want something different, you may need help if you don't want to get a dreamweaver and photoshop.

you can try "lycos" for building your own web page and uploading too...all for free. (http://www.tripod.lycos.com/)just try this link and you will get a basic idea for building a page. but if you wish to have a own domain name, then you have to pay for it to the web hosters.
