Wow, having grown up Catholic, I am surprised that I never heard of this tradition. It sounds really neat and inspiring, maybe people of the Catholic faith will start doing this again someday... it would be appreciated by many in that faith, I believe.

Yes , even in my hometown , they do this . Some God believers/ devoted visit every house with an image of Sto.NiƱo/ blessed Virgin Mary.. then they sang the "Que Hermoso" , if I am not mistaken.. we kissed the blessed Virgin Mary/ Stop. Nino also.
