teen not doing school work

you have a teenager and she/he fail a grade already for not doing his/her work. and they are starting the new school year off on the wrong foot by not doing their work agai. what would you do? take away things they like,no phone,compuer,games, ground them..talk with their teachers and see what you and they can do to help..like the old saying goes you can lead a hourse to water but you cant make them drink.i would love to hear your input on this..
