I must thank one of my friends- who is here on Mylot, though he visits it very less now, and who is there on one of the WhatsApp and WowApp group for this discussion.
Recently, we have had a few days of duststorms, and one of such days, the duststorms and accompanying heavy rains caused destruction in some Northern Indian states like Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand.
Yes, duststorms and occasional rains do come every year in May in Northern India, due to high heat, low pressure areas and high speed winds, probably coming from the deserts of Rajasthan.
Yet, this time, the intensity was more lethal. From what I have been observing, and seeing weather and climate events all over the world over the past 7 to 8 years, I can say that nobody can deny that the Global weather is under tremendous stress, and mainly due to human intervention and factors.
We have had seen Governments signing (and some getting out) of agreements on weather and climate change, push for solar and wind energy, and many things.
Yet we as citizens, cannot put all things in our local, state, national or other countries' Governments' basket.
We can do something, and this is not just a slogan. So for such a complex topic, I thought of bringing a series of discussion.
My first suggestion would be :
1)Nurture trees around yourself- may be if each of mylotter or each family nurtures at least one tree, or a good plant, it will make a difference.
2)We all pledge at least one day in a fortnight or a month when we do not use our private vehicles, or even hire a cab or taxi for use.
We can either take a leave, take rest at home, take a bus, train, cycle or just walk. Is it tough? I do not think so.
Well, other things in next part.
What do you all say?
