The Loss Of A Pet

About six weeks ago, we had to put down our dog Chewie, and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. Chewie was a Yorkshire Terrier, but we affectionately, called him a Yorkshire terrorist. He had a very big personality for a little dog. He lived a good life and was thirteen years old. He was my buddy and followed me everywhere.
There are times that I still think he's behind me as I go out the door and then I realize he's gone and I start to emotional. Let's face it, our pets are part of the family, and we love them very much. Have you ever lost a pet? How did you handle the grief?

Yes, too many times to count. I have usually had the companionship of other animals to help me get over my grief.. but some of those animals are just so close to your heart it is very hard to get over them that quickly... I am sorry for your loss.

I'm so very sorry to hear this. He was adorable. We've lost so many pets over the years, and it is never, ever easy. They ARE members of the family. We are in the process of dealing with a heart problem, arthritis, and a bad knee with our grand kitty, whom we all love so much. Remembering the good times and funny things they did over the years helps so much.
