Can you read a person's mind

Is it possible to read what is going on in the mind of a person? In the dictionary, it is known as psychic reading. Maybe it is possible to do so but I would like to know the actual fact. And also how to negate this in case one person is being read by others.

I can not advocate for that. But I can read my children's mind to some extent and make out what mischief they are up to. Well that can be called as mother's instinct and not psychic reading. When you know a person very well you can many a times know what they think

These concepts are good in the books only...if had that been the case then there wouldn't have been any misery in this World as every one could have read the brain of others to take precautionary steps by learning this art by practicing it! Thanks!

Or it might have caused miseries to multiply. People who have wrong intentions would have misused it.
