Why do you dislike Facebook?

I have numerous examples as why it's become troublesome and not worth my time, but I'd like to hear a few of yours. What do you find most offensive or last appropriate when it comes to Facebook? Is it the censorship of anything they don't like politically? The way that they bag and resell your private data without consent? The fact that they do not pay you anything to use your information or the posts that you make? Feel free to discuss and expand on this!

I found to impress new members and to get them as their friends people fake about themselves which I don't like! I know the people what they are in real life and what they present themselves as face book! This is not the fault of face Book but for this reason I don't like to visit face book though I have got an account there! Thanks!

For starters, it has become a social ill with so many obsessing over it.

I don't really have a problem with the website itself because I don't put my private data in it anyways... or felt like it...
What I don't like it about it is that it has become a source for other people to put other people down... just because they posted something that's against the other's idea... stuff like that

Precisely. It's practically the anti-social media despite being the largest social media platform.
At a place like here for example, we can agree or disagree freely and it's OK for us to do that.
On facebook though, I and at least 1 or 2 others here would be banned or blocked already for a minimum of 7 days for simply saying how we feel about it, be it good or bad.
Their automated system is part of the problem, but the 20,000 people that work for them and make a decision under 2 seconds may be another.
When their support staff blocks people over ideas and other social networks of any kind do not, there is definitely a problem there I think.

I like Facebook for the marketplace because I can sell my products. That is all.

@itepuppy That would devastating enough for me. Then all the contacts and messages are saved there. That would be a loss for me and it is not nice.

It does have an active user base and potential for sales, that is true. But what will you do if Facebook decides tomorrow that it no longer likes what you sell, that it is suddenly against their terms of service they change without warning or notice, and that you lose all of your sales instantly because they block or ban your account and prohibit people from being able to message you or know why?

@mlgen1037 I would strongly suggest having a viable alternative, be it Amazon or making a copy of your contacts and data on facebook. They say you can download all of that as a package, but they often leave out important things when you do. It's best to do it manually and make sure you have it if they ever do that to you.

I will not say that I hate it. I am not so frequent there but I still use it to stay in touch with friends and family and to promote my articles or blogs. I think that is addictive and kills your time. I also don't like people posting every happenings in their life. It bores me. Also people fake a lot on Facebook

A relative was held up in a air port for several hours because they didn't like the political views posted on his FB page. Yes, they check that stuff. Not sure if they do it every time, but I've read that they select random people. Another was having a political debate with someone on FB and that person then sent him a virus. I'm not for sure, but the person who sent it was supposedly an employee of FB. That was it for me. Besides I'd like to travel one day and don't want anything like that to get in my way

I've heard of that happening. I've seen someone denied employment and a bank account too before due to what at first "appeared" as credit information, but later turned out to be social-media influenced background check results. Facebook is unchecked and out of control. It's smart of you to avoid it to ensure that it can't be used against you later for travel or anything else.

I wouldn't compare mylot to Facebook. Facebook steals revenue from users, mylot does not. The news you get is what they want to show you. There are many articles and sites, for example a site called veteranstoday which posts accurate news that is not what those who control news by majority want you to see, cannot be posted as a link or shared with anyone. Facebook is notorious for doing that to any site they do not like with any information they do not approve of for any reason, be it legitimate or not. They are known for attacking conservatives as well to silence them, which is part of why Mr. Zuckerberg was brought before a congressional panel at the United States a short while ago.
As mentioned, they go out of their way to silence people they do not want to speak, which stops you from using it to speak with friends from all over the world, family members, coworkers, and others making it more dangerous to use than ideal.

I honestly have to say that I do, after its draconian laws have implemented consistent back to back 30 day bans upon me for free speech alone, and sharing photos that were from other people who did not get blocked for posting them, even though I was blocked by Facebook for having shared them. They're hypocrites that implement censorship and do so dehumanizing ways to disallow people from conversations and messages privately (which they also scan and block for), on top of wanton sale of your private information without your consent to the highest bidder daily.

As long as you are never blacklisted by them, they'll "let" you do that. If for any reason you are, you'll find suddenly that you're no longer "allowed" to send messages to communicate with your friends and loved ones, be it for 7 days, 30 days, and longer.

I like facebook and frequent there, so I can see posts from family and friends. They have had some negative publicity in the last 6 months but I focus on the positive aspects like being able to contact friends and family easily.

I hope that you're still able to do that, They are changing things there to restrict it further than it already is. It will be interesting to see if this topic and conversation is revisited at a later date to update to let us know what's new and different with that after a while.

There are a lot of sinister things that facebook can and is used for. If you only post cat pictures and photos of family, they will profit from your doing that, but (unless they dislike the picture you post of your own family or find a way for it to violate their tos suddenly), you're usually safe with that, as long as you never have any opinion but what they are ok with and make sure that you never speak freely to them or to anyone else you meet out of this world.
