It is time for Holiday Home works… Is it good?

Here most of the schools are closed for summer vacation, my younger son’s school too. Now I have a bundle of holiday home works which I have to sort out and collect information from net. It is a big burden actually. He will do but he needs my assistance to collect all these. Then I have to buy scrap books, colour pages, chart paper, writing sheets etc. Another burden is school is closed without dong its term exams. That will start once the school is reopened. So there won’t be any fun for children for sure. Parents too will be tensed for preparing their exams. For parents, Have your children on summer vacation? Others – in your place – schools closed for summer break? Do you think any advantage is there to giving a lot of projects works on vacation?

I am against 15 teachers giving a load of homework and projects...holiday is supposed to be a break. But as a teacher, when students return without homework , they do not even do a basic revision and this is a tremendous setback in the classroom.

Yes, he got home works for every subjects. That also not simple but heavy. He must make a 'torch' (electronics) then clay pots, project on tribe's life, project on early man's life etc.. the list is long.

@Sreekala Perhaps when you have a Teacher's day you can mention that the holiday's homework is too heavy. That's too much homework. What i find, as a good practice, is to take the first two days off and do out all the homework...that way your son and you, can enjoy the rest of the holidays.

Since you are not a student there won't be any burden in the form of holiday home works.

we are just starting. summer break is over. and it is cool to do some summer projects works for kids. It will make their vacation memorable and also they have something to share in the class when the start begins again.

I don't have much time to spend all these works for sure. One side it is torching summer and other side, office works, house chorus so helping children for their works at this time is not good for me. However, I have to do as a responsible mother. No escape for me.

@Sreekala well it is something to be done by family example house painting. or gardening. so children will not be spending time in the computer playing computer games.

I think they are giving summer vacation just for sitting inside home study as it is hot climate outside.

In my place they ain't close yet, till Next month. There is an advantage of giving projects work it will make the children to seat up. Nevertheless, all work no play makes Jack a dull boy

Projects works may be meant to make them active in summer break with studies as well. But the kind of projects works they are giving seems to be a burden for parents alone.

Sadly yes, if school authorities knows this fact then why they provide projects?
