I keep seeing ads for 3 new Ketel One Botanicals Vodkas on Facebook. One is Grapefruit & Rose, another is Cucumber Mint, and the 3rd is Peach and something else that I can't remember. All three of them sounded pretty good to me and like things that would make a nice light, refreshing drink for hot weather mixed with club soda over ice.
Today I stopped at the liquor store after doing the grocery store and they had all three varieties. At $24.99 each, I wasn't about to buy them all at once when I had other things on the list as well, so I decided to try the Grapefruit & Rose version first.
According to the label, Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose Vodka is "made with vodka distilled with real botanicals and infused with natural flavors" and it does not contain sugar or artificial sweeteners/flavors. It is 30% alcohol by volume (60 proof) and 1.5 fluid ounces contains 73 calories and 0 grams of carbs, protein, and fat. The flavor is described as "zesty fresh squeezed grapefruit taste with a touch of rose" and the owners/distillers state "My brother and I have put our hearts and souls into this Botanical Series". They suggest having it over club soda--imagine that!
I did as I had planned (and was suggested) and had some in a glass with ice and cold club soda. I have to confess that I was both excited and nervous about this flavor combination because I love grapefruit but the whole rose/flower component made me a bit leery. I am happy to report that it works! The grapefruit isn't bitingly tart and the rose isn't overpoweringly floral. . . but I think the club soda probably has a hand in cutting back the impact of the rose. That being said, I think my husband would probably say it tastes like a flower garden because he is a "guy" like that.
I am enjoying this Ketel One Grapefruit and Rose Vodka cocktail. It is, as I anticipated, light and refreshing. Do I think that this stuff is a must-have for me? Probably not. While I do appreciate that it doesn't contain sugar or artificial ingredients/flavors, I can definitely see the flavor combo getting old after the 2nd or 3rd drink. It is something that will wind up in our downstairs bar for other guests to also try and enjoy.

it sounds interesting. Some of those flavored liquors I think I am going to like..but then it turns out I don't. I thought I would love the cinammon flavored whiskey..but it wasn't that good.
