I am not actually talking about Apple... im talking about palm fruit(borassus flabellifer).(ice apple)it's the common name.its available specially in summer ,it's very cool it have this in summer,it keeps us cool and hydrated.
The ice apple is very dark purple in color when ripe.although its texture is similar to that of a coconut.
An ice apple’s taste is said to be sweet, but it sometimes has a bitter aftertaste. The fruit contains casings full of mildly sweet liquid. Some people prefer to make its juice, personally I like to eat it directly.
It’s rich in B vitamins, calcium, and iron. It’s used to treat digestive problems.
Have you ever tasted it my dear friends?.do like it's taste..?

@nomus24g You are not alone, I have heard it in many places. But I really get angry when some one refer us as "Madrasi'. I just can't digest that. The people who are referring that way does not know where is Madras and where is Kerala, they even don't know both are different states and different culture, etc.

I personally haven't seen or heard about ice apple. I too love coconut, so if it's similar I'd like to try it. Does it come frozen? When I finally find Whole foods I'LL be on the lookout for them. Could it be called mangosteen? If it is, they when in season can be found at Oahu Market.

This is the first time I have seen that kind of fruit. I actually thought it was star apple because of the outer shell.
