When I was a kid, my grandparents were polish and we called them Baba and Pap. My kids called one set of grandparents Granny and Pappy, and the other Nana and Poppop. What do you call yours?

Interesting question! I always thought I was odd in that I did not call my grandparents "grandma" and "grandpa" like all my peers seemed to. I only had one grandparent alive when I was born, which was my paternal grandmother. I always called her "Pouffle" (first syllable "oo" sound as in "book," not as in "poof!") It was what my dad had called his grandmother - her mother - growing up and so she wanted to be "Pouffle" instead of grandma like her mother. I am not sure where exactly it came from, but New Orleans families often know each other by odd nicknames. Although I did not know my grandfather, we're guessing I might have called him "Bunk." Again, that was his father's "grandfatherly" name.
