horrible experience with a taxi

Took a taxi yesterday to go for some work. Gosh he argued with me throughout the way on the directions. I wanted to go through the shortest way, he wanted to take me another way. I was running late and did not have the time to get off and take another cab. what should i have done guys?

I am sorry to hear that. Maybe he wants to take the route he's comfortable with and also if its a longer route, he'd get more money for it?

You did the right thing to be polite to the driver and ask him to go the shortest way. He might though to doing that in order to get more money. It was awful that he wanted to argue with you. I wonder if you can report him to the taxi company he works for. I wonder how far your place of work is?

It does get irritating when the driver does not listen to your instructions.But sometimes there is nothing much we can do Just sit back and keep calm.

We also have unscrupulous taxi driver who take advantage of unwary passengers. But then drivers are more familiar with the traffic situations and taking a shorter route may actually take longer if it's filled with bumper to bumper cars.

you should've demanded to stop the car if he won't listen to what you wanted.
