Even as a hobbyist painter, poet or any other kind of artist, we've all been through this thing called a "mental block", and we all know that it's very frustrating. In fact, there has been at least once in a lifetime where a person has experienced a mental block. It may take minutes or even months before we find inspiration to create new art. Sometimes, it even occurs when we're in the middle of doing something we're supposed to finish. In order to get going, some artists find appropriate music to listen to. Some just call it a day and sleep it off. Some even find inspiration in cooked meals or in other people's art. So, how do you get out of the dreaded mental block?

Some times it happens with me while doing some writing jobs pertaining to my profession and I keep on procrastinate them. But I realized that a good continuous sleep of 6 hours can make a big difference and I am back to work! May be that is because of over exertion mentally! Thanks!

I will give enough time to pass on so that the laziness goes off. If we force, then will get the opposite result.

@rakski I distract myself with different things: music, watching videos, or sleeping things off.

A walk through nature is something I enjoy and helps to give me clarity. Clearing my mind and just enjoying nature helps me to spark some creativity. Maybe something similar could work for you.

I listen to music, music that inspires me something with good lyrics or no lyrics at all just listen to a beautiful melody and sleep to that. Listening to music helps you clear your mind and also expands I really believe it does.

I would often need to at least do something else and stop myself from forcing my mind to think about something related to what i have to work on. "resetting" the mind and body helps for me and oftentimes in just a few hours I can get back and get new ideas to doing what I needed to do. A mental block during a presentation requires a more quick thinking response and it has happened to me... so if this happens I usually just turn to my mates and sort of ask them questions as i think back on my next word/s. =P
