The folks who answered 1 are correct. You MUST use the Order of Operations Agreement.
1. Grouping (work everything in grouping symbols first)
2. Exponents
3. Multiplication/Division --as you come to it left to right
4. Addition/Subtractio --as you come to it left to right.
Here is the problem...using the rules above.
2 + 4 + 2 + 5 - 6 x 2
There are no grouping symbols...there are no exponents. There is multiplication...do this first.
2 + 4 + 2 + 5 - 12 (completing the multipication)
Now, add and subtract left to right.
6 + 2 + 5 - 12
8 + 5 - 12
13 - 12
