There are a number of old age homes.Their number increases every year. But why? There are daughters and sons saying that thay don't have time to listen and care their parents. We are celebrating mothers day, birthdays etc. What is the meaning in celebrating all these if we are not having our parents besides us. Do you think home is sweet home without our father and mother?what doyou think?

Things are so different from what they used to be, and sons and daughters really do not have time to take care of an aging parent. For instance, one of my daughters lives alone. She works full time, takes care of all her yardwork, gardens and maintains the house (she can even do plumbing). She couldn't stay home from work and take care of me. My son works long hours, as does his wife. They have two kids they can't spend enough time with, what would they do with me? All of that said, I think it's a shame that older people aren't respected and cherished for their wisdom. "Retirement homes" are nothing more than glorified hospitals for those can't live alone. My sister took care of Mom when she had Alzheimer's and I don't want my kids to have to do that, so if something like that happens, I want to go to a home. There's a lot to think about.

Thanks for sharing...dear friend.there are merits and demerits as well.those children who have all facilities to take care their parents are not doing so saying they lack time.it is totally miscerable

I can not do that. For me parents are the people who gives strength and moral support to the family. Today's sons and daughters are forgetting that they are also going to become older and they will having the same fate as they are providing to their parents as children learn from parents and they think that it is a proper thing and they would practice the same thing.

In my opinion, home care or nursing home are very helpful but I rather take care my parents at home or rather hired someone to look after them when I am working than placing them in a nursing home. I can not imagine my parent living in that place. They build our house, they gave us home and comfortable life when they get old well the same.

I think for many people they are very very important. Though many do not take care of the elderly all that great, many are amazing and help elders live happily.

@divyamanojkumar It is their choice. Some people just don't have the time.

@divyamanojkumar When children cannot take care of their parents then there has to a place that is good for them to live and get the right care they need.

I don"t go for these homes. My parents were never sent here and they left this world happy as they can be.

This world will be blessed if all daughters and sons think so.

I do think that with the population around the world getting older and older, there is still a need for homes for the elderly.
