To my Mylotter friends, here's a long overdue update on Venom, (my eco-thriller novel for my new Mylotter friends), since it's been a long time since I gave you on. Here's the lowdown. I had planned to send it out to those agents earlier this month and had a minor setback. I was supposed to go over it with a friend of mine, who's a copyeditor, after I had revisions on my full Revise and Resubmit last month I've gotten from one of those interested agents from last fall. I've waited six weeks for her to finish with her clients work before she had gotten back to me.
But then we've had a big tiff and dissolved our one-year friendship. My former friend only partially edited the first scene of chapter one. Though I've revamped it back in January with her help to fix the "disconnect" problem that agents have been getting, she wanted me to fix sentence structure and make boring things interesting. Since we're no longer friends, I've done what she wanted me to do on my own, which has taken me almost a month at my own time.
Now since it's done, it's about to ready to go out to those agents real soon.
I've sent it to a close author friend of mine last Friday to look over for me and give me feedback. If she loved it, she would give me a referral to her agent, (like she did two years ago and fell through), I would send it to those agents either sometime this week or next week. So I have to wait to finish her Christmas novella deadline by the end of this week. And I don't mind waiting a bit longer to send it out. Hopefully, a week from today... Fingers crossed.
At this moment, I've gotten one new full request from an agent earlier this month. I've had two agents who considered it for a few months and passed last week, (both liked the idea, but not a good fit for them), while I still have one considering agent on my mini R&R she gave me in January. I'm also waiting to hear back on one of the agents who has my partial and updated 50 pages that I've tweaked earlier this month.
It's going to be a long and grueling month for me, since the response time for fulls are 2-3 months and one agent has one as six months. But I'm hoping that it could be shorter, since they've waited for over a year (and sometimes a bit longer), when they said they would wait for revisions. Hopefully I should have good news by the 4th of July or by Labor Day Weekend.
I know you're going to say, why not self-publish it, like you did in the past posts on Venom's status. Since I'm so close on getting my goal to go traditionally, and this is the last year I'm querying (and requerying) Venom to agents, I'm hoping this is it for me. Self-publishing is my very last resort after small, indie or e-pubs. I'll keep you posted for breaking news this summer. Keep your fingers crossed since this is GO time!!!
Sorry for the long post.

True. But I don't think I have the patience to do self-publishing or the funds. Yep. Thanks. I would love a pub deal from one of the big publishers for any of my mss too.
