Yes we did with our last dog, RJ. He was named after our first dog, Rambo.

I am pretty sure the cat would answer to Miles but he is pretty tuned in to his real name and of course kitty.

@JudyEv Yes, some of the dogs here registered with the American Kennel Club have long names as well, and shorter everyday names.

Yes my dog does have a nickname. Her name is Bella, but sometimes I call her moosie moose since she is so big but thinks she is little. Other times I call her Beller although I am not sure why.

yes, I have several cats, and a dog, have some nick names for them, everyone, has a different, nickname, in this house for them. But the pets keep up with it.
