Can a president pardon himself?

Well I think we can safely say that June 4, 2018 is the day that the Trump Train officially went off the rails. He announced this morning on Twitter that he has "the absolute right" to pardon himself and that supposedly "numerous legal scholars" agree with him on that. (newsflash: they don't) In fact, it was established by the Department of Justice just a few days before Richard Nixon resigned that presidents cannot pardon themselves or at least it didn't appear that they could.
I guess we will never really know until President Dumpster Fire decides to just go for it and it gets challenged in the Supreme Court. I haven't seen what Faux News' take is on the wannabe king's morning decree (I can guess though) but everywhere and everyone else has been pretty damn horrified throughout the day.
The president also said he has the power to pardon himself, raising the prospect that he might take action to immunize himself from the ongoing Russia investigation.

So if Trump could pardon himself, that means he knows he did something wrong! Would he pardon himself for doing nothing? What a piece of work!

@thislittlepennyearns Giuliani is giving him a run for his money these days in that department though. Suddenly I think Chris Christie is happy that he escaped this $hit show

I seen a story that Giuliani is also saying that Trump has to be impeached before he can be charged with any crimes. He said as president, Trump can even commit murder. We now have dumb and dumber working together.
Candidate Donald Trump bragged that he could shoot someone on New York’s Fifth Avenue and not lose any support, and now President Donald Trump’s lawyer says Trump could shoot the FBI director in the Oval Office and still not be prosecuted for it.

As a well versed scholar once said: NO! You don't need to be a legal expert to figure out that you cannot be the judge and jury in your own trial my word
