Have You Ever Lend Money For Profit?

India
June 5, 2018 6:12am CST
I Guess these days most like to do that as people require some cash with them for the petty expenses and sometimes for other such things and in case they don't have they do ask their friends or relatives and if they can get that cash by paying some extra on it, which is the form of profit for the lender and not interest, as interest will be higher and these type of small loans are given by those who are in contact with us and without any security as well. What About You? Have You Ever Lend Money For Profit? How was your experience? Please Share.

Not really sure what you mean by that. If you are asking if I have loaned monies to somebody on interest, yes, I have. But I have had my reasons. You see my relatives are no good, and old too. If I die, there has to be somebody reliable to take my father to hospital. Somebody trustworthy. I have found one such person. He wanted to start business, and I seized the opportunity. I said I will loan at specified interest rate which would be lower than what is prevailing in the market, provided you give me guarantee that you will be there to help us if we need to go to hospitals. Its been 14 years association, not disappointed so far.

@thesupersingh Yeah..that is the idea because I have nobody else to turn to. If I am running to the hospital, somebody should be there to do things for me, like follow up with insurance agents and if I die, somebody should take charge of insurance as well as hospital trips and bills. If you have ever been to hospitals you would know that is a difficult thing.

It's against my belief to lend money for profit, so it's either give them or do not lend, at times I lend small amounts and do not expect any interest from the burrower, if they give interest voluntarily then that's the only time I accept. My only problem is when it's my time to burrow there is always interest by the bank

I am an investor on a peer to peer lending site called PROSPER, so the short answer is yes. But it's a much different thing than lending money for profit to someone, and you can at least take many factors into consideration before pulling the trigger.

@thesupersingh I am not sure, but fairly certain it may only operate in the United States. I have made profits from it.

I lend money without profit it's always good to help someone who is in need. I don't mind the interest as long as he or she actually knows when to return the money he borrows.

@thesupersingh Someone once taught me not to lend anyone money (for profit or otherwise) unless you intended to discard that person from your life and it is a lesson I have often learned the hard way.
