What are you having for dinner tonight?

Last night was one of those nights where I went with "enhanced" leftovers. I cooked up my leftover Thai curry, with pumpkin, beef, and chicken, and added some garlic, pepper, and onions, and called it good. I had a productive day today so it must have worked. What are you having for dinner tonight? I have a softball game in about an hour, so I'm throwing together some TraderJoe's Chicken Chow Mein, and adding my usual onion and garlic.

Your leftovers look delicious. I always use our leftovers. I can't stand to waste food. We had pasta with red bell peppers onion and garlic.

Last night was individual pot pies eaten in the park. Tonight it was fake breaded fish- very tasty- and pita pockets filled with yogurt and diced cucumber and onion and dill. A stir fry of mushrooms and young zucchini finished the meal nicely.

@TheHorse How to explain that product? Its addictive-tasty. Its a triangular product. Breaded tempura batter. Its made by the Gardein company. Soy and gluten- the ingredient list is not fun to read but trust me, you'll love it!!!!

Oh, wow! That was your dinner? Sorry, when I saw the picture, my first thought was to ask if you feel better now... Yes, I'm in one of those kinds of moods. Edit to add: I made beef and sausage burgers tonight. (Have you ever mixed the two meats and added onions, garlic and seasoning to it?) It was delicious! (grinning at you)

@vandana7 I'm wondering how well you would have fared at my parent's table, vanny. (I definitely cook healthier than my mom ever did! Imagine everything you eat being cooked in animal fat (lard). Also imagine every meal heavy in starch and protein... We were all plump when we were younger. Some of us worked the weight off when we left home... and all of us have put quite a bit of weight back on after we settled down. (Some of us put more weight back on than others of us, though.) I have told all of you vegetarians that Pretty and I do eat vegetarian meals, sometimes. Yes, she and I do eat meat, but not at every meal!

@vandana7 I sent the link to Pretty, but when I watched it, the lady wasn't giving measurements. While an Indian might be able to cook this because they know what the proper proportions of each ingredient should be to achieve the correct taste, we won't. If you'd share your recipe for this dish, vanny, via pm's, I'd appreciate that. Thank you!

@vandana7 DE honestly you should give a try. We have an option to make it spicy or less spicy depending on your choices but it is delicious. If you visit India, you should try it for sure.

We had what my recipe referred to as "poor boy subs". Split rolls (or hot dog buns for some of the little kids) were spread with a mixture of cream cheese/garlic/butter/yellow mustard, then filled with lunchmeat and cheese, then wrapped in foil and heated in the oven. Everyone added lettuce, tomato, and pickles before eating.

@TheHorse The garlicky spread worked out better than I expected, although the buns got a bit toasty. I made a few extras and stuck them in the freezer, and a few folks had some for lunch today. I swear, the freezing improved them.

@Marty1 The most expensive thing is the cream cheese and the sandwich filling. It can be as cheap or as expensive as you decide to make it. Here's the recipe I followed.

@TheHorse It is too childish vegetable. I mean you bite it into it, and there is no taste. I do eat it, but I need it with lentils. Some taste at least. Pumpkin with tomatoes ..nope pass..

I had deer meat in the fridge that I cooked for Tony a couple days ago, I heated it n made a sauce. I had it about to go into my mouth and I smelled it and just couldn`t eat it. I made me some guac and ate tortilla chips with it.

@TheHorse Definition of a "fritter": "a small mass of fried (or sautéed batter) often containing fish, evegtables or meat". My shrimp fritters were fried.

Your dish does remind me of some Thai dish we had ordered in some lux restaurants (minus the peas & carrots) ages ago. I might have some Italian dishes that night, the 8th of June, or was it some simple but extremely yummy omelette...
