What is wrong with the world?

Racism?
Greed?
Selfishness?
War?
Probably lots of things, but if you had to narrow down the root of all suffering to it's most basic cause, what would you choose and why? The above four items are suggestions but feel free to add your own.
Thank you.

Amen! It has surely caused a lot of suffering. I wonder what the world would be like if money had never been invented. I guess people would just be greedy about other things.

your right
i think the only reason why we are in Iraq was that bush wanted to have an ally in one of the oil countries in the middle east.
now, that plan has backfired.

I think your top three are right on. I do however believe that in some cases war is necessary, but I also believe that the fear (in the US) of disciplining our children has gotten ridiculous. People have stopped controlling their households, and kids are running things now. It doesn't help that we have celebrities deliberately flashing their privates in public to the paparazzi. Especially one that has marketed herself to the young girls of this world. Britney makes me sick to my stomach and to think that mothers by their daughters crap that endorses her trashy flamboyance.

I'm not sure I agree about war. It seems that we should eventually be able to reach a point where we can solve problems without killing each other. I realize there are cases that are desperate, but even though a war may solve a particular problem in the short term, it ends up engendering more hate and retaliation and it just never ends.
I do believe in disciplining children, but it is sometimes hard to say what is acceptable and what is not. My guideline was always this: If I am doing it for my child's benefit (teaching them and molding their character, I'm doing it right. If I'm doing it for myself (venting and releasing anger) then that is wrong.
I agree that the media and entertainers have contributed to a culture that values all the wrong things and encourages people, especially young people, to follow their basest instincts instead of elevating their thinking to a higher level.

Because there is lack of God and love in people's hearts.

This is my choice also. I think all the bad things people do are based on selfishness. If we would consider others, we wouldn't do things that cause suffering.
