lost something dear to you?

Good morning, What happens when you loose something really dear to you? I had a very pretty scarf given to me on my birthday . My best friend gifted it to me and now i cant seem to find it anywhere. This generally happens when i dont use something for a while. Guess i remember wearing it 6 months ago and now wow i cant see it anywhere. Really depressed right now and angry with myself for not keeping it properly. How do you feel when you loose something dear to you?
