MESSENGERgoing!

I just logged in on my yahoomail and I wanted to check on the Yahoo messenger. I had no messages (as if I should have one! hahaha! ), and I noticed an announcement at the uppermost part of the page. “Yahoo Messenger will no longer be available starting July 18, 2018”. Maybe the reason is because there are chat messages on Facebook, Viber, and other social media sites. Anyway though, we can still communicate through Yahoo mail by sending emails but not chats anymore. Are you subscribed to Yahoo Chat Messenger?

really? why don't you check your email account and you can see a small tab about 'messenger' at the left corner of the page.

When I first started using the internet (many years ago) Yahoo Messenger was the best thing going and I used it frequently. I have not touched it in years and had no idea it still existed. The last time I used it the response time was slow and lagging. I hated the strain it kept on my computer so I just stopped using it all together.

@Shellyann36 they became unpopular due to the emergence of other apps for texting and communication on camera.

the yahoo messenger changed about a couple of years or more ago. before, we can chat, now the tab is already in a different page and it is so unlike before wherein a window is just the space for the chat

Yes, I am. But I am not using it anymore. I think only a few uses it already. It has been made obsolete because there are Viber and Messenger. At the office, we use Viber to send messages and have a chat group for the Operations committee, so everyone will know about the status of projects, requests, and other things that need immediate attention by the manager. We also have the ManCom group, where usually the announcements of ManCom meeting is posted. With my high school batchmates, relatives, daughter, sisters, hubby and friends, we use Messenger. We also call each other through Messenger.

@ridingbet Besides, it's already somehow obsolete. The fad now is viber and messenger.

the YM before is like the FB messenger now. we can open many tabs and communicate with many, and also it is like the Skype where we can see each other while talking.

I was a user of the old yahoo messenger. Those were the days when the messenger can be used like skype. I'm wondering what happened.

I used to use yahoo messenger to keep in touch with my family in the Philippines (when I used to work as an OFW). Now that I live in the US, I find Facebook and Viber to be a better way to send and receive messages to and from them. I also remembered yahoo being in a controversy for privacy issues which they kept from the public for years. That and coupled with security issues made me quit using it entirely.
