They got baptized this weekend

My son is 17 and my daughter is 15. They chose to become baptized members of the Mormon church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is of course a Christian Church. The kids were mostly raised Catholic and were originally baptized as small children in the Catholic Church but this was their choice and to me that is different. I don’t want them to be someone they don’t want to be and that included the beliefs they hold near and dear to their heart. They have been happier than they’ve been in a long time and a lot of that happiness comes from the new friends they made and the activities they participate in. I attend on occasion with them but I am not ready in my heart to commit as a full member and I don’t know that I ever will be. Who knows what the future brings though. Our son has been blessed with the priesthood of God and so after learning more and some other stuff he can eventually perform baptisms for others himself. He’s very excited about that.

@kepweng Yes, a baby cannot make decisions. It is better to wait till a child is old enough to reason and make choices. No one should be forced into a religion.

@acrogodess True! However, in the Bible there is no baptism of babies.

That is such wonderful news! Its easy for kids to be mind-washed into believing or pretending to believe whatever their parents want them to do. Its better for when kids take an active interest and search for what is meaningful to them and they live it! That is so great for them! :) You raised them right!

Well since they are so close to adulthood, I saw no point in making them wait.
